The Other Side—a movement for all things creative
Whether inspiration flows through our dramatic landscapes, exists in local culture, or pulses with the rhythm of regional life, the South Coast holds a wealth of possibility and resonant creative energy.
While the creative spark may exist naturally here, sustaining a career as a creative in a regional setting requires more than just inspiring surrounds. It needs an ecosystem of adaptability, motivation and community. Unlike city-based practise (with access to major galleries, funding bodies and dense audience bases), the regional challenge is turning inspiration into momentum, and building a career that’s creatively and financially sustainable.
A creative career as a regional artist isn’t about working with less though—it’s about working differently. The South Coast can be a place where tradition and innovation meet, where creative opportunities aren’t defined by industry norms but by the willingness to embrace the other side of possibility.
Kicking off with a series of mixer events designed to tap into the collective energy — bringing together creatives, makers, musicians and performers from across our region, hosted in some of the South Coast’s most unique venues. These are spaces for ideas, experience-sharing, and connections that inspire a collaborative and creative community.
