South Coast Arts works in partnership with its three Council members, Regional Arts NSW and Create NSW

As a member of Regional Arts NSW and by working collegially with different levels of government, we ensure the delivery of professional services that sustain and enhance arts and culture in our region.

The City of Shoalhaven is located in the southern part of our region. Stretching from Berry and Kangaroo Valley to Durras North, the Shoalhaven has a population of more than 100,000. Shoalhaven City Council believes in nurturing creativity with major arts events, community grants, prizes and creative spaces for artist, including the Shoalhaven Regional Gallery, Nowra and The Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre, Nowra. The Shoalhaven Arts Board supports the development and enrichment of the arts across the region.

Kiama Municipal Council area is in the centre of our region encompassed by beaches, hills and rainforests.  It serves more than 22,000 residents in Kiama, Minnamurra, Kiama Downs, Jamberoo.  Kiama Council’s Arts and Culture Committee encourages, advises and provides support on artistic and cultural practice in the Kiama LGA. Kiama Cultural Arts Network (KCAN) hosts regular gatherings for the local arts community and through its cultural grants program Kiama Council provides funds each year for arts-based projects undertaken in the region.

Shellharbour City is in the northern part of our region about 100 kilometres south of Sydney with a  population of around 76,443.  Shellharbour is located between the coast and Illawarra escarpment. Shellharbour Council offers creative opportunities and events in its city and surrounds. It boasts a vibrant public art scene providing artist residency and opportunities and cultural grants for its artists, from public art projects to performance callouts to professional development opportunities.

Regional Arts NSW (RANSW) RANSW is the peak body and service agency for arts and cultural development in regional NSW, leading regional arts conversations, encouraging collaboration, providing support and celebrating the achievement of the arts and cultural sector in regional NSW.

Create NSW is the NSW Government’s arts and cultural driver, which brings together arts, screen and culture functions in an integrated entity. Create NSW is the primary funder of the Regional Arts Development Network, providing multi-year funding and Community Arts Support Program grant funding for regional artists.
