Expression of Interest: Commissioned Artwork for the Dragons Community and High Performance Centre

The Dragons are seeking a local Aboriginal artist who resides on Dharawal land to create a unique piece for the new Community and High Performance Centre, located at the University of Wollongong’s Innovation Campus.

This artwork will be a prominent feature on the building’s exterior, positioned to the left of the main entrance. Our vision is for elements of this design to extend throughout the facility—both inside and out—establishing a cohesive aesthetic.

The club wants to include this Aboriginal artwork with an aim to honor and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Aboriginal peoples in our community. We also hope it will serve as both a symbol of respect and spark awareness, appreciation and understanding of local culture and perspectives.

The artwork will be implemented using a pic perf system, which involves perforating a metal screen to produce a durable, visually impactful image. The selected artist will collaborate closely with the architect, builder, and pic perf screen supplier to achieve the final design. Attached, you’ll find an example from North Melbourne AFL Football Club, showcasing this system’s potential.
