CASP Funded Projects

The Country Arts Support Program (CASP) is an annual small arts program funded by Create NSW and managed by the South Coast Arts for our region.

It is guided by the Create NSW Arts and Cultural Funding Program’s three major objectives:

  • Grow creative leadership and programming excellence in NSW
  • Strengthen NSW arts and cultural activity that drives community and social benefits
  • Showcase NSW as a leader for strategic arts and cultural governance and strong financialmanagement.

SUCCESSFUL 2024 CASP PROJECTS

Amethyst Downing

This Dance Clan operates in collaboration with Gumaraa and Kyanite Amethyst Creative Co. The current program is called “Dance with Ya Mob” and attendees age from 5-16 years. The project is to curate an end of year event to showcase cultural performances they’ve learnt throughout the year.

Nic Nac Theatre Company

Nic Nac Theatre Company will engage in a mentorship with Sydney Puppet Company for professional development in puppet creation and manipulation. This will take place in the Southern Highlands over 30 hours between October 2024 – March 2025. It will culminate in a visit to Cambewarra public school.

Lincoln Smith

‘Jerra’ (meaning Story in Dharawal) is a intercultural theatre collaboration in development between Lincoln Smith and Jacob Morris both based in Bomaderry. ‘Jerra’ is an exploration of the conversation between 3 stories. Jacob’s story becoming a eminent Dharawal language speaker, the story of Arrawarra, and the colonisation of Dharawal Country.

KISS Arts Festival

KISS invites Artists in Residence (AIR KISS project) Penny Sudabin and Tim Rushby-Smith to oversee the creation of a community lead pin-wheel wind farm. The Community is invited to make and decorate their own windmills with messages written on them reflecting their thoughts on windfarms.

Red Shelf Pty Ltd

Michelle McBride has been writing songs in her ancestral language of Koa, dhurga and wiradjuri for recording and release of the works to the public.

Colour Mountain

Two artists will facilitate collaborative design workshops with a local primary school that will culminate in a mural being installed on site. Project aim is for students to be involved in placemaking, creating a sense of belonging, and connect with the artworld beyond the scope of a school context.
